What is Vestibular Migraine?

In recent generation, Vestibular Migraine are the second most common reason for the vertigo. Vestibular Migraines are arguably a type of migraine. Similar to migraines, the vestibular migraines do show th e signs of hypersensitivity of some sensory inputs, such as sensitivity to sounds, lights, motion, pain and smell. Around 50% of the patients do not experience painful headaches. Vestibular Migraines are also known as Vestibular Associated Migraine (VAM) or Migrainous Vertigo.

What Causes Vestibular Migraine?

Vestibular Migraine symptoms include brief moments of vertigo that can last for days and vary in severity. Exact causes haven’t been established yet, but research is still going on. The common causes observed are as follows.

  • History of Migraines.
  • Hormonal changes (Menopause or Periods).
  • Certain foods can trigger migraines.

What is Motion Sickness?

If a person feel nausea or vomiting with cold sweats while in car called carsick, if in airplane it called as airsick or in ships or boat referred as seasick. These conditions are part of motion sickness. Motion sickness occurs when information from your brain, vestibular system sensors (inner ear) and your body conflict with each other and does not integrate together. This confuses your brain and results in making you feel sick to the stomach. Motion sickness generally considered as not a serious health condition.

What Causes Motion Sickness?

Motion sickness will be experienced when motion sensing parts of our body such as eyes, inner ears, body muscles, and joints send conflicting information to brain. These are the common conditions people feel motion sickness;
