Auditory Verbal Therapy

Teaching Your Child to Listen & Speak Naturally

Advanced Auditory Verbal Therapy (AVT)

One of the few centers in India using a 3-Stage Acoustic Protocol and American University Standards to help children with Cochlear Implants and Hearing Aids develop clear spoken language.

  • Unique 3-Stage Training
  • Full-Day Sound Immersion
  • Parent-Centered
  • School Ready

What is AVT & Why It Matters

Auditory Verbal Therapy (AVT)

Auditory‑Verbal Therapy is a specialized, evidence‑based approach that trains children with hearing loss to use their hearing technology to listen, understand, and speak—without depending on sign language or lip‑reading. Parents are active partners in every session.

Cochlear Implant is not enough, AVT is the Key for Speech Development

    AVT Key Points

    • Focus on hearing first: teaching the brain to use sound from the implant/hearing aid
    • Natural spoken language development through daily routines and play
    • Parents are the primary therapists at home; we coach and guide you every step
    • Strong research base with excellent outcomes when started early and done intensively

Why AVT is Critical in the "Golden Age"

Surgery gives access to sound. AVT gives access to meaning.

Why RASYA’s AVT is Unique in India

Our Unique 3-Stage Protocol

Standard AVT often fails when a child leaves a quiet room. We use a unique Graduated Acoustic Protocol to ensure your child can listen everywhere—at home, in traffic, and in a busy classroom.

  • Sound-Treated Isolation

For new listeners: A strictly quiet, acoustically treated room to help the brain distinguish new digital sounds without distraction.

  • Controlled Noise Introduction

Building resilience: We move to a partially treated room, introducing background noise (fans, distant talk) in a controlled way to build focus.

  • Real-World "Regular Room"

Life-ready: Therapy happens in a standard environment to master listening in natural noise, ensuring they are ready for mainstream schools.

More Than Just Therapy Hours

Why RASYA for AVT?

Every child's behavior plan is personalized. Here are the main skill areas we focus on:

  • The "Sound Shower" Advantage: SRP & Daycare Integration

A 40-minute therapy session isn't enough. Children need to hear language all day

Why we encourage SRP/Daycare with AVT:

    • Full-Day Immersion: Children under 2 years join our specialized Daycare; those over 2 join the School Readiness Program (SRP).
    • Brain Plasticity: We flood the child’s day with meaningful sound (rhymes, talk, play) to maximize the “Golden Period.”
    • Confidence Building: Children learn to socialize and listen to peers, not just the therapist.
    • Academic Base: We introduce alphabets and concepts early, bridging the gap to regular school.
  • Parent-Centric Coaching

We empower you to become your child's primary language facilitator, teaching you practical strategies to transform routine interactions—from breakfast to bedtime—into high-impact auditory and speech training.

    Why Parent-Centric AVT is Key

    • Maximize Learning Time Therapy is limited to a few hours a week, but you are there 24/7 to provide the constant practice their brain needs to recognize sound.
    • Real-World Learning Children learn best in natural settings; we teach you how to build vocabulary during daily routines like bathing, eating, or dressing.
    • Confidence for Life By learning these skills yourself, you gain the confidence to guide your child’s speech and listening development at home, every single day.
  • School Support & Mainstreaming

Our goal is to get your child into a regular school and keep them there successfully.

    How we support education:

    • Curriculum Modification: Our team works with school teachers to adjust the syllabus if needed.
    • Teacher Training: We guide teachers on seating, FM systems, and how to speak clearly to a child with an implant.
    • Special Education Support: Remedial help for concepts that might be harder to grasp initially.
  • The "Sound Shower" Advantage: SRP & Daycare Integration

We don't stop at childhood. We support your child’s hearing journey into adulthood.

    Long-term care:

    • Lifelong Mapping: Adjustments as the child grows and technology evolves.
    • Career Counseling: Guidance on choosing paths that align with their strengths.
    • Upgrades: Helping you access the latest processor technology when available.

Frequently Asked Questions

Immediately. In fact, we recommend “pre-hab” (therapy before surgery) to prepare the child to listen. Post-surgery, therapy should begin as soon as the device is switched on.

No. While 0-3 is the “Golden Age,” neuroplasticity exists throughout childhood, meaning children learn very fast compared to after 3 years, that doesn’t mean they cannot after 3 years. We tailor the intensity of the program to help older children catch up.

Yes, absolutely if attending only 40 min AVT sessions. You are the “captain” of the team. Our job is to give you the skills to develop your child’s brain 24/7, not just during the 1-hour session. However, for working employees opting for SRP/Day care parents are required to attend a weekly session to lead in home.

Traditional speech therapy often focuses on visual cues (lip reading, pictures). AVT focuses on listening, preventing lip reading. We cover the mouth or use “hand cues” to force the brain to process sound alone, which is essential for phone use and conversation in noise.

Most centers offer simple speech therapy in a standard room. We use a 3-stage acoustic environment, integrate full-day SRP/Daycare, and follow American University protocols for true spoken language outcomes.

Therapy is only 40 minutes. Daycare provides 6+ hours of “sound-rich” stimulation, which is crucial for the brain to learn language quickly.

Yes. That is our primary goal. With early AVT and our School Readiness Program, most of our children attend mainstream schools with their hearing peers.

We can help. We assess their mapping and listening skills, then use our Stage 2 or 3 environments to rebuild their listening foundation.

Absolutely. We welcome families from other centers. You can transfer your ongoing care to us to benefit from our advanced “Rescue Mapping” and parent-centric AVT. We will assess your child’s current device settings and therapy plan to ensure they are finally getting the maximum benefit from their implant.

Yes. But it is mandatory to complete stage 1 & 2 at our center then we can have for at-home, or virtual sessions, with parents actively participating and applying techniques between visits.

Definitely. We tailor strategies to your language environment, balancing exposure and practice across languages.

We coach you to weave listening and language-building cues into everyday activities, turning chores, play, and mealtimes into purposeful AVT moments.

Yes. Our goal is mainstream education. We provide reports and advocate for your child’s inclusion in regular schools. If necessary we can contact your school principal and class teachers, to make things easier for our kid.
